Queensland Health partnering with Wiley on multiple projects

Queensland Health have awarded Wiley’s contracting team multiple projects that involve the delivery of complex healthcare facilities across the Toowoomba Hospital and the Hervey Bay Hospital.  Wiley’s contracting team operate under a highly flexible and agile project management, design, procurement and delivery model that allows them to deliver a wide range of projects, big and small, very competitively.

In late 2016, the team commenced with the construction works of a new state-of-the-art, high-hygiene kitchen facility at the Toowoomba Hospital.  The project will ensure compliance and efficiency of food services for the Toowoomba Hospital and other surrounding facilities with modern equipment and improved layouts.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Cameron Dick said “I am very pleased to say Toowoomba Hospital’s $9.76 million new kitchen project is progressing well and on track to be completed in August 2017.”

Wiley’s Business Operations Director, Simon Spittle, who leads Wiley’s contracting team said “we are pleased to be delivering the project in partnership with Queensland Health. It is a complex project, involving connective building work with adjoining clinical areas and other medical spaces that are to remain operational throughout. Modifying and maintaining existing services is critical within an operating hospital environment and Wiley has the experience needed to undertake the delivery. Additionally, our proven stakeholder management abilities, honed through decades of delivery in operational environments, will facilitate effective collaboration between Wiley and Hospital representatives.”

Wiley has also been engaged to deliver Stage 1 of the Hervey Bay Hospital Emergency Department Redevelopment. The project includes major rock excavation, new roadway construction, car parks, a helipad, ambulance bay structure and changes to some internal access points. The project commenced in early January 2017 and further illustrates Wiley’s ability to deliver value in a wide range of projects in competitive markets.

Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS) Chief Executive Adrian Pennington said it was exciting to see a project that was so important to the future of Fraser Coast healthcare start to come to fruition. “A lot of people from across WBHHS have put a great deal of effort into making this project a reality” Adrian said. “Now it’s time to build a new emergency department that meets the current and future needs of this fast-growing region.”
