Mango Hill State School has proudly unveiled their new state-of-the-art facilities, made possible by funding from the Queensland government. Recently, Deputy Premier, the Honorable Steven Miles MP, Mango Hill State School Principal Tracy Egan, and Deputy Principal Ellaine Warner along with the delivery team from Wiley, project director Tom Wilson, project manager Dan Brannigan, executive chairman Tom Wiley and the school community gathered to officially open the school, .
The construction project was delivered by Wiley’s team and involved the creation of a three-level senior learning block with 24 General Learning Areas, breakout rooms, three toilet blocks per level, three practical learning areas, three staff rooms, a covered multi-purpose sports and assembly building, a mini soccer field, and a large playground. This new scope was made possible when more funding became available, expanding on the original plans of 16 GLAs with breakout rooms and an outdoor learning area.
Principal Tracy Egan remarked, “Initially, the brief was for a two-storey building with 16 classrooms and the conversion of our old hall into a professional learning space. But this project has certainly been the gift that kept giving. Part way through the project, this morphed into a 3-level building with 24 classrooms. And this wonderful covered multi-purpose court, a soccer field, and a fantastic playground for our senior students to enjoy.”
She also expressed gratitude towards the Wiley’s delivery team, stating, “The project team from Wiley have been fantastic to work with and we are so grateful for their flexibility managing a changing brief and for their willingness to listen and find solutions. They have approached each stage of the project determined to produce a world-class facility for our students and I think they have succeeded!”
The opening event was filled with excitement, featuring performances from the Mango Hill State School senior band, poetry readings, and even Deputy Premier Steven Miles MP joining in on the skipping activities. The new facilities are set to provide students with a fantastic learning environment for years to come, inspiring them to reach their full potential. This significant milestone is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all involved. Congratulations to Mango Hill State School and the wider Queensland community!
